    Importance of Continued Dental Care

    Many people wait until they are in a lot of pain before going to the dentist. Following a treatment plan, set in place by your dentist, is the best step towards getting ahead of potential dental problems. Continued dental care is very important to your overall oral health. Compared to irregular visits from year to year, attending regular scheduled dental visits (including dental cleanings) will save your teeth while saving you money in the long term.

    Your First Visit

    At the time of your first visit, the Dentist will evaluate your total oral health through a dental exam. Your Dentist will create an individualized treatment plan including future hygiene appointments and possibly other dental procedures if needed. Your first appointment is for a dental exam only. A hygiene appointment will be scheduled after your initial exam.

    Dental Cleaning

    Attending regular Hygiene appointments is very important since it is at this time that the Dental Hygienist and the Dentist can take x-rays and perform an examination to identify current and potential dental problems. Identifying a problem earlier is better than letting the problem progress to a more severe, painful, and expensive stage. Consistently attending appointments established in your dental treatment plan will greatly increase the chances of oral health success.

    Dental cleanings are typically scheduled every six months. Your cleaning will be performed by a licensed dental hygienist. Your hygienist will remove any dental plaque from your teeth. They will also polish your teeth with a special polishing past.
